Man k!lls his girlfriend for money ritual in Lagos hotel (photos)

The police in Lagos have arrested a man named Amos Daniel. He is accused of killing a woman believed to be his girlfriend inside a hotel in the Ayobo Ipaja area of the state.

The incident happened on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Reports say that Daniel, who is known to be a cultist and also called Gambit, arrived at the hotel around 5 p.m. with some of his friends. A woman later joined them in the room.

Later that night, around 10 p.m., some strange sounds were heard coming from their room. This made people in the hotel concerned.

A hotel guest named Adio told Punch that the noise raised suspicion. Security staff were informed, and they went to the room. No one responded when they knocked, so they opened the door with a spare key. Inside, they found a woman lying in a pool of blood.

The hotel manager and workers were shocked and quickly called for help after seeing the dead body.

The other people who had been in the room had run away, so the staff began searching for them.

One of the hotel staff, who didn’t want his name mentioned, said Daniel was still on the hotel premises and tried to escape through the gate but was caught.

People at the hotel beat him up after catching him. During the beating, he confessed that he and two of his friends had planned to kill the woman for money rituals.

The woman who died was later identified as Endurance. She was from Akwa Ibom State.

Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the case in a statement on Sunday.

He said the hotel manager had come to report at the Ayobo Police Station. The manager told the police that Daniel had booked a room around 5 p.m. with some friends.

At about 8 p.m., while the manager was refueling the generator, he heard strange noises coming from Daniel’s room. When he went to check, they saw a woman lying in a pool of blood with injuries that looked like they were caused by a sharp object.

Daniel and his friends had escaped, but the hotel manager chased Daniel and caught him. During the struggle, a dagger dropped from Daniel’s body.

The police later went to the crime scene, took pictures, and continued their investigation.

They found that the victim was stabbed many times—in the stomach, the side of her head, and near her ribs.

Police said they recovered several dangerous items from Daniel’s house and surroundings. These include an axe, cutlass, machete, several knives, a laptop, military-style boots, a local sponge, and large scissors.

The woman’s body has been taken to the mortuary at Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for proper investigation and autopsy. The case, suspect, and all the evidence have now been handed over to SCID Yaba for further action.
