President Bola Tinubu said on Sunday, July 20, that Nigeria’s history would not have been complete if he had lost the 2023 presidential election.
He made this comment during the 8th-day prayer (Fidau) held for the late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland.
The respected traditional ruler died at the age of 91. He had ruled Ijebuland since April 2, 1960, making him one of Nigeria’s longest-serving kings.
Oba Adetona passed away just hours after former President Muhammadu Buhari. The two had been close friends since the 1980s.
At the prayer event, President Tinubu shared that the late Oba Adetona had once encouraged him to run for president in 2023 and had assured him that he would succeed.
