The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Anambra State governorship election, Jude Ezenwafor, has narrowly escaped an attempt on his life. The incident happened when he was attacked and shot by unknown gunmen.
Ezenwafor is currently receiving medical care at a private hospital in Abuja. He is expected to undergo surgery soon. On Saturday morning, he spoke to journalists and described the experience as a close call with death. The attack happened on Friday night around Wuse 2 area in Abuja.
He said he was returning home after attending a meeting when the armed men struck. Ezenwafor is still in serious pain from the injuries he got during the attack.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Ezenwafor said doctors are preparing to operate on him to remove bullets lodged in his body.
Two other people who were with him at the time of the attack were also shot.
