The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed Auwalu Isah Manzo as its candidate for the House of Representatives by-election in the Garki/Babura area of Jigawa State. This election is scheduled for August 16, 2025, after the previous representative, Isa Dogon Yaro, died on May 10, 2024, at the age of 46.
After the screening process, the PDP’s screening committee secretary from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, Precious Ben, shared that Manzo had been successfully cleared to represent the party. She explained that a five-person committee was sent by the PDP to Jigawa to assess the candidate and make sure he was qualified to contest.
According to her, Auwalu Isah Manzo submitted all the needed documents and met all the requirements set by both the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). She expressed confidence in his abilities, noting that his wide experience and popularity made him the best choice for the party. She also stated that she believes he can win against candidates from other parties.
Speaking after the screening, Auwalu Manzo said he left his job as a civil servant so he could run for office and bring meaningful change to his community. He was confident that the people in his constituency would support and vote for him in the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have also submitted their candidates for the by-election.
