Buba Galadima, once a close ally of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has said he has forgiven him for everything that happened between them in the past.
Galadima was one of the main people who helped create the All Progressives Congress (APC). He also worked very hard to make sure Buhari won the 2015 presidential election.
Later on, their relationship changed. Galadima, who was also the National Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), left Buhari’s camp and started openly criticising his government.
In a recent interview, Galadima described some APC leaders and opposition members visiting Buhari’s home as people who don’t know what they’re doing. He said these people are acting like Buhari is still important in politics when he is not. According to him, Buhari should have just rested and waited for the end of his life.
Galadima said he was the fourth person to sign the official form that started the APC. But over time, he came to believe that Buhari had tricked Nigerians and kept his true plans hidden for 15 years.
Buhari passed away on Sunday in a London hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for an illness that has not been made public.
After hearing the news of Buhari’s death, Galadima spoke in Hausa and said, “I forgive Buhari for everything he has done to me in life.”
Buhari’s burial is planned for Tuesday in his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.
A team of Nigerian officials led by Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently in London to bring the late president’s body back to Nigeria.
