Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has made it clear that anyone found guilty of giving information to bandits will face the de@th penalty, and he will sign the warrant within 24 hours of their conviction.
He made this statement during his visit to Zogirma community in Bunza Local Government Area. His visit followed an attack where members of the Lakurawa group k!lled three police officers.
Governor Idris strongly criticized those helping criminals for money. He said such people deserve the most severe punishment and shouldn’t be allowed to live among others. He added that he doesn’t believe life imprisonment is enough for them and he will personally approve their de@th sentence.
He also said his government will work to pass a law in Kebbi State that makes the de@th penalty mandatory for people who assist bandits.
The governor promised that more security personnel will be sent to areas that are easily targeted. He said his government is fully committed to protecting lives and property, making sure people can sleep peacefully at night.
The three officers who lost their lives were involved in a gun battle with members of the Lakurawa group, who attacked people traveling on the Zogirma to Tilli road on Friday, July 11.
