Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will be laid to rest today, Monday, July 14, in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State. His burial will follow the Islamic tradition.

Buhari died on Sunday, July 13, in a London hospital. He had been receiving medical care for an illness that was not made public. He passed away at around 4:30 p.m.

President Bola Tinubu has sent Vice President Kashim Shettima to London. Shettima is to bring Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.

Buhari’s remains are expected to arrive in Nigeria early Monday. From there, the body will be flown to Daura for the final burial.
