Senator Adams Oshiomhole has asked the new Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, to look into how former Governor Godwin Obaseki handled state money and projects during his time in office.

While celebrating the Supreme Court win of Okpebholo, Oshiomhole said it’s now time to bring accountability and honesty into how the state is managed.

The statement came after the Supreme Court, led by Justice Lawal Garba, agreed that Okpebholo was rightly elected. The PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, could not prove there were voting problems or that the election broke any rules.

According to the court, the evidence showed that Ighodalo didn’t win the most legal votes in the election.

Speaking to his supporters, Oshiomhole said the court’s decision now gives the new government a chance to review how Obaseki used state funds.

Oshiomhole claimed that billions of Edo’s money went into a hotel project and said Okpebholo should now investigate it since the court case is over.

He also said that the roads and projects done under Obaseki’s rule were poor and didn’t last.

Oshiomhole said many roads built by Obaseki have already been damaged, unlike the ones he built, which are still good.

He asked Obaseki to stop staying silent and talk to the people of Edo State.

He said Obaseki must face questions about how he led the state. He believes true rescue of Edo means checking what went wrong in the past.

Oshiomhole added that understanding past mistakes will help avoid them in the future and prayed that God gives the new governor the strength to lead well.

He ended by daring Obaseki to return to Edo and walk the streets with him so people can judge who really worked to help them.
