A tragic event happened in Benue State as a student named Japheth Amine lost his life in River Nomnor Mke, located in the Gboko West area of Gboko Local Government.
The sad incident took place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, during school hours.
According to people who witnessed what happened, Japheth and some of his school friends left school secretly while others were in class. They went to the river to swim.
Sadly, Japheth couldn’t handle the strong flow of the river and got carried away by the current. His friends tried to help but couldn’t save him.
Later that day, around 1:45 PM, some local residents who came to wash clothes at the river found his body lying lifeless by the bank.
