US President Trump set to attend Club World Cup final

US President Donald Trump has confirmed he will attend the FIFA Club World Cup final on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The month-long football competition will end on Sunday when Chelsea from the English Premier League plays against the winner of Wednesday’s match between France’s Paris Saint-Germain and Spain’s Real Madrid.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “I’ll be going to the game,” when asked about his plans to attend the final in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The news of Trump’s attendance was first hinted at by DAZN presenter Emily Austin during her Monday broadcast.

This update comes a day after FIFA announced the opening of a new office in Trump Tower, Manhattan. The Club World Cup trophy will also be displayed inside Trump Tower ahead of Sunday’s big match.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed gratitude for the support from Trump and the US government, saying it has been crucial for hosting the Club World Cup and preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Infantino praised the efforts of Trump and the White House Task Force for their strong backing of the ongoing tournament and the upcoming World Cup to be hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Since returning to office earlier this year, Trump has attended several major sporting events. He became the first sitting president to watch a Super Bowl live, attending the game in New Orleans where the Eagles beat the Chiefs.

Trump also worked with the NFL to bring the 2007 draft to Washington, D.C., showing his continued involvement in major sports events.
