I did crazy things for music – Zinoleesky

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Zinoleesky recently opened up about the bold steps he took to follow his passion for music. He said he had to do some “crazy” things just to chase his dream.

In a chat with SB Live, Zinoleesky revealed that he ran away from home at a young age to focus on music. He explained that Nigerian parents usually don’t support careers in entertainment. Instead, they prefer their children to study professional courses or learn a trade. Because of this, he had to find his own path and go after what he truly wanted.

According to him, “Nigerian parents are always in denial when their children want to go into music. They want you to become a doctor, lawyer, or do business. So, you just have to find your way. I did some crazy things. I ran away from home to do music.”

Zinoleesky also mentioned that he started out as a rapper before switching to singing. The change in style helped him attract more fans and attention.

He first gained popularity in 2017 when his freestyle videos started going viral on social media. Those short clips made people notice his talent and gave him his first taste of fame.

There were reports that he once rejected a record deal from Davido’s label, DMW. But in December 2019, Zinoleesky decided to join Naira Marley’s Marlian Music instead.

Soon after joining the label, he released his debut album Chrome Eccentric, which had hit tracks like “Ma Pariwo” and “Kilofeshe.” These songs became fan favorites and helped push his music career to the next level.

Zinoleesky’s story is an example of how far dedication and self-belief can go, even when family or society doesn’t immediately support your dreams.
