Nigerian singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, better known as Ruger, has opened up about how his interest in music began at a very young age.
He said that when he was just 9 years old, he used to sneak out of the house to attend parties. His main reason for going was to enjoy Afrobeats music and dance along.
In a recent interview on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast hosted by Joey Akan, Ruger explained that he loved dancing so much as a kid that he couldn’t resist going to parties, even though he was not yet 10.
Ruger gained fame after he dropped his hit single ‘Bounce’ in 2021. That same year, he signed a music deal with Jonzing World and released his first EP titled Pandemic, which helped launch his career.
By 2024, Ruger decided to leave Jonzing World due to issues with the label’s boss, D’Prince. After the split, he went ahead to start his own music label called Blown Boy Entertainment, choosing to take full control of his career.
