Nyesom Wike, who is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has said he did not grow up in a poor family like former Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi. He said this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday. During the interview, Wike confirmed that he owns a Rolls-Royce and explained that he bought it with his own money. He added that nobody gave him the luxury car.

Wike made these comments in reaction to Amaechi’s recent statement. Amaechi had claimed that Wike was corrupt and pointed out that he drives an expensive car. In response, Wike said he has always lived a comfortable life and didn’t come from a poor background.

Wike also mentioned that he was already driving a Mercedes-Benz while he was still a student, unlike Amaechi who, according to him, came from a less privileged home. He explained that his father worked as a manager in many companies, which allowed them to live well. He said his family was rich, though not as wealthy as people like Aliko Dangote.
