Arsenal confirm departure of Tomiyasu, Ali from club

Arsenal Football Club has confirmed that Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and under-21 coach Mehmet Ali have both left the club.

The announcement came in two separate statements published on Arsenal’s official website on Friday.

The club explained that they had reached an agreement with Tomiyasu to end his contract early, meaning he is leaving with immediate effect.

Tomiyasu had joined the North London club in 2021 after leaving Serie A side Bologna in Italy.

Since then, the 26-year-old made 84 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta.

As for Mehmet Ali, Arsenal shared that he has stepped down from his position as under-21 coach. He has now joined Brentford, another Premier League team.

Before working at Arsenal, Ali had been the under-21 coach at Reading. He has also worked in the youth coaching team at Tottenham Hotspur in the past.

Both exits mark key changes for Arsenal as they prepare for the new season.
