Akpabio: Injustice can’t stand – Ezekwesili on court ordering Senate to recall Natasha

Former education minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has congratulated Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan after a court ordered the Senate to bring her back to office.

Ezekwesili said the ruling shows that injustice, like what Natasha faced, cannot last forever.

On Friday, the Federal High Court in Abuja criticized the Nigerian Senate for suspending Natasha for six months. The suspension came after she made sexual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Judge Binta Fatima Nyako canceled the suspension and told the Senate to immediately reinstate Natasha. The judge said the action was against the Constitution and left Natasha’s people in Kogi Central without proper representation.

Reacting to the court’s decision, Ezekwesili called on the Senate to correct its mistake and respect justice.

Writing on X, she said, “Congratulations to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Today proves your strong words true: ‘This injustice will not be sustained.’ You have shown the courage that every citizen in a democracy must have to stand against abuse of power.”

Ezekwesili also praised the people of Kogi Central, saying they were unfairly left without a voice in the Senate. She urged the Nigerian Senate to quickly undo the wrong done to them and honor justice.
