Lagos Island boss clears air on arrest by ICPC

The Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo, has spoken out to clear up false reports that he was arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

According to Folawiyo, the claims about his arrest are not true. He explained that the ICPC only invited him for questioning regarding a petition that he believes was filed by political enemies trying to damage his name as the local government elections draw closer.

His Chief Press Secretary, Olushoga Olushola, released a statement on Wednesday saying that Folawiyo fully cooperated with the anti-corruption agency and was never arrested. He honoured the invitation in good faith and has since resumed his normal work duties.

The statement added that Folawiyo showed respect for the law by honouring the ICPC’s invitation and answering their questions professionally. He remains confident that the truth will come out through facts.

He also called on the public—especially residents and stakeholders in Lagos Island East—to ignore the misleading news reports, which he described as attempts to cause confusion and fear.

Folawiyo thanked his constituents for their support and prayers during this time. He promised to continue being transparent and accountable in his role, and to keep serving the people to the best of his ability.
