Napoli recalls Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for pre-season training

Napoli has asked Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to return for pre-season training ahead of the 2025/2026 football season.

According to a report from an Italian newspaper, La Repubblica, the club sent Osimhen a letter to come back to their training center in Castel Volturno on July 15. That’s when the team will start preparing for the new season under their new coach, Antonio Conte.

Osimhen has been playing for Turkish club Galatasaray on a 10-month loan. His loan deal ends at midnight on Monday, and after that, he will officially be back as a Napoli player.

The striker left Napoli earlier after a planned move to a Saudi club failed. The transfer didn’t go through because Napoli wanted more money, and that caused the deal to fall apart even though discussions were almost completed.

Osimhen has a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave Napoli if a club pays €75 million. He has until July 15, 2025, to make such a move if he wants to leave.

His contract with Napoli still runs until June 2026. In the coming weeks, it will become clear whether he will stay to play under Conte or move to another team.
