According to the forecast released on Sunday, NiMet expects thunder and light rain early Monday morning in states like Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna in the northern part of the country. Other areas in the North will be mostly sunny with a few clouds.

Later on Monday afternoon and evening, more thunderstorms and rain are expected in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Gombe, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna.

In the central region, places like Niger, Plateau, and the FCT may see early morning thunderstorms and rain. The rest of the region is likely to remain sunny with some clouds. By afternoon or evening, thunderstorms may occur in Plateau, FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger.

In the southern region, morning rain is expected in Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. As the day progresses, light rains and thunderstorms may spread to states such as Ondo, Oyo, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, and others.

For Tuesday, NiMet forecasts sunny skies with some clouds over most of the North in the morning. However, scattered thunderstorms and heavy rainfall may hit Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Yobe, Sokoto, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Kaduna. More rain is expected in the afternoon in Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, Borno, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, and Bauchi.

Central states like FCT, Niger, Kogi, and Benue may also have thunderstorms with rain in the morning, with more showers expected later in Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue, Kogi, and FCT.

Southern states such as Akwa Ibom and Cross River might see some rain in the morning, followed by light thunderstorms and rain across the whole region in the afternoon or evening.

By Wednesday, morning thunderstorms are expected in parts of Zamfara, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, and Sokoto. In the afternoon and evening, heavy rain may fall in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Taraba, and Adamawa.

The central part of the country will begin with cloudy skies in the morning, with moderate rainfall and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening.

In the South, light rain is expected all through the day across the entire region.

NiMet also warned that strong winds may come before the rain starts. People are advised to secure any loose items that could be blown away. The agency also advised against driving during heavy rain and recommended unplugging electronics during storms.

They further urged people to avoid standing near tall trees and advised airline operators to always check for updated weather information for safer flight planning.
