Accident claims four lives along Enugu-Port Harcourt highway

Four people lost their lives in a serious accident that happened on Saturday along the Enugu-Port Harcourt highway. The crash occurred in Amorji community, located in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.

The accident involved a truck transporting goods to Umuahia and happened around 5:00 am. Reports say that eight other passengers were badly injured.

Some people said the accident may have been caused by a brake problem. However, others in the village believe poor visibility early in the morning could also have played a part in the crash.

Emergency responders from the Abia State Emergency Medical Service arrived shortly after community members raised the alarm. The EMS team used their ambulance to move the injured people to a nearby hospital.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Abia State later confirmed the accident. Speaking to Daily Post on Sunday, Sector Commander Ngozi Ezeoma said the vehicle had twelve people onboard—eleven men and one woman.

She added that all four people who died were men. The remaining eight people, including one woman and seven men, are being treated for their injuries at the hospital.
