President Trump calls for corruption trial against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be cancelled

Former US President Donald Trump has asked Israel to stop the corruption trial against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or give him a pardon. Trump believes the trial is unfair and called it a “witch-hunt.”

He made this statement on Wednesday, saying he was standing by his longtime friend and ally, Netanyahu. Netanyahu has been facing legal issues in Israel since 2019, where he’s been accused of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.

Trump shared his opinion in a long post on Truth Social. He expressed surprise that Israel was still pushing the trial against Netanyahu, especially after what he called one of Israel’s greatest moments in history. Trump praised Netanyahu’s leadership, especially during difficult times.

Trump said he and Netanyahu had worked together closely during tense situations with Iran, which he called a major threat to Israel. He described Netanyahu as strong, smart, and deeply committed to protecting Israel.

Trump claimed that Netanyahu’s actions helped stop what could have been a serious nuclear threat from Iran. He described Netanyahu as a “warrior” and said no one else in Israel’s history had fought harder for the country.

The former US president said it made no sense to him that someone who had given so much to Israel was being treated this way. He repeated Netanyahu’s claims that the case is politically motivated, just like Trump has said about his own legal troubles.

Trump said the case should be thrown out or Netanyahu should be pardoned. He praised the Israeli leader as a hero who had done a lot for the country.

He ended his post by saying the United States had helped save Israel in the past, and now it would help save Netanyahu from what he sees as a fake justice system.

In December, Netanyahu became the first Israeli Prime Minister to testify as a defendant in a corruption case. He said the charges against him made no sense.

Netanyahu is facing charges in three different cases. He is accused of taking gifts like cigars and champagne from a Hollywood billionaire in exchange for helping with personal and business matters. He’s also accused of helping media owners in return for positive news coverage about himself and his family.

The 75-year-old Prime Minister says he did nothing wrong. He blames the media and legal system for trying to remove him from power.
