Coalition: Nigeria targeted for destruction by urban bandits, we must remove them – El-Rufai

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has raised a strong warning about Nigeria’s future. He said some people—who he described as urban bandits—are trying to destroy the country. According to him, political leaders must come together to stop this threat.

El-Rufai made these remarks during an interview with Arise News on Monday evening. He said he feels motivated by the way coalition leaders are coming together to save Nigeria, rather than focusing on their own interests.

Speaking further, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory mentioned that no one in the anti-Tinubu group is currently chasing personal ambition or trying to become president. He noted that although political ambition is normal, for now, the coalition is focused only on fixing the country.

He explained that the main message among the group is clear: Nigeria is in danger, and something must be done. These leaders believe that if they unite, they can send these “urban bandits” away and put Nigeria back on the right path.

El-Rufai said he is encouraged by the selfless attitude of the group. According to him, everyone in the coalition is more concerned about the country than personal gain, and that gives him hope.

Interestingly, El-Rufai used to be a strong supporter of President Bola Tinubu and played a major role in his 2023 election victory. But he has since left the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is now a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Now one of the loudest voices in the anti-Tinubu camp, El-Rufai says he is confident that Tinubu will not return as president after the 2027 election.
