Russian President Vladimir Putin has strongly criticized the recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities. He called the actions “groundless aggression” and defended Iran as a close partner of Russia.
Putin made these comments during a meeting in Moscow with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The Iranian diplomat came to Russia to ask for help in reducing the rising tensions.
During the meeting, Putin described the strikes as unfair and unnecessary. He also said Russia is doing its best to support the people of Iran.
The strikes targeted Iran’s Fordow nuclear site and several government buildings in Tehran. There has been no sign that things are calming down. Russia has also spoken against Israel’s actions and warned that bombing nuclear sites could cause more serious problems in the region.
The Russian government went further by blaming the U.S. for opening a dangerous situation. They warned that such actions could harm not just the Middle East but people around the world.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Trump praised the attack, saying it stopped Iran from making further progress with its nuclear plans.
At an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, Russia’s ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, warned that no one can predict how much damage and pain these new developments might bring.
