7 Nigerians Arrested For Possessing Of Narcotics In India

Eight people have been arrested in India for allegedly being in possession of illegal drugs. Authorities say the total value of the narcotics is around Rs 1 crore (about $120,000).

Among those arrested, seven are Nigerian nationals, and one is from Nepal. The Nigerians were identified as Ugochukmv John (also called David), Nnajiofor Peter Nmaemeka, Henry Onuchukwu, Ojukwa Ifenya, Friday Tobias Chikwu, and Okolie Romanus. The only Indian named in the case is Lal Kothari from Mizoram.

The investigation started on June 16 when police caught Bimal Pahadi, a Nepali citizen, in Sector 39. He was found carrying 1.6 kg of illegal sulpha and 116 grams of cocaine. Authorities charged him under India’s law against narcotic drugs.

After being questioned, Bimal Pahadi gave more information about the drug network, which led police to carry out more raids in Delhi on June 18 and 19. These follow-up raids helped arrest the seven Nigerian suspects.

Currently, Pahadi is still in custody for more questioning. Meanwhile, the Nigerian suspects were taken to court on June 20 as part of ongoing legal actions.
