Club World Cup: Stupid mistake – Mikel Obi blasts Nicolas Jackson over red card

Former Nigerian football captain, John Mikel Obi, has expressed his frustration over Nicolas Jackson’s red card in Chelsea’s Club World Cup match against Flamengo. He said the team’s performance went from bad to worse after the incident.

Jackson came on in the 63rd minute to replace Liam Delap. At that time, Chelsea was already losing 2-1 in the game.

The match started with Pedro Neto scoring the first goal in Philadelphia. But Flamengo came back strong in the second half, scoring twice through Bruno Henrique and Danilo.

Unfortunately, Jackson received a straight red card for a dangerous tackle. This means he will miss the next game due to suspension.

While speaking on DAZN, Mikel Obi did not hold back. He said, “Nicolas Jackson came in and got a red card. Things just went from bad to worse.”

Mikel went on to say the action was “Unbelievable. Stupid, stupid, stupid mistake.”

He questioned Jackson’s mindset, saying, “I don’t know what he was thinking. The team needed him and he did something like that. He did the same thing at Newcastle and now again. I don’t care what made him frustrated.
