Governor Mutfwang Takes Action After Jos Building Collapse – Governor Orders School Closure and Arrest of Local Miners

Following a tragic incident, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has ordered the immediate closure of Saint Academy in Busa Buji, located within Jos North LGA.

Additionally, the governor has directed security forces to apprehend artisanal miners operating near residential areas across the state.

The building collapse occurred yesterday at Saint Academy, claiming the lives of more than 20 people, including students and teachers, and leaving numerous others injured.

According to State Police spokesperson DSP Alfred Alabo, 22 fatalities have been confirmed, while 132 individuals have been rescued, many of whom are currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals in the state capital.

Governor Mutfwang issued these directives during his visit to the site of the tragic incident.

Governor Mutfwang stated,

“I am ordering the immediate closure of Saint Academy and instructing security agencies to arrest any artisanal miners found working in residential areas,”

Expressing condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, the governor assured them that the government will cover the medical expenses of the injured individuals.
