Real Madrid’s coach, Xabi Alonso, has given reasons why his team couldn’t win their first game at the FIFA Club World Cup. They played against Al Hilal on Wednesday and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The match was played at the Hard Rock Stadium in the United States. Gonzalo Garcia scored for Real Madrid, while Ruben Neves scored for Al Hilal. Both teams ended up with one point each.
After the match, Alonso spoke to reporters. He said that the team had many problems during the game. He pointed out that they didn’t do well when they had the ball and also struggled when they didn’t have it.
Alonso said he told the players during halftime to calm down and stop rushing. He wanted them to be more careful and patient when passing the ball. He noticed they played better in the second half.
He explained that the team needs to improve how they control the ball. In the second half, they kept the ball longer and were able to get closer to Al Hilal’s goal, but it still wasn’t enough to win the match.
