The Nigerian government has told citizens that the difficult situation in the country won’t last much longer.
This message came from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during an interview on Channels Television.
The Minister explained some of the efforts made by the Tinubu administration. He mentioned that over 900,000 people have received help through presidential loan and grant programs. He also said that 300,000 students have benefited from a student loan scheme, and that more than 10 billion naira in foreign debts has been paid off.
Still, recent reports show that Nigeria is going deeper into debt. Many people are worried because hunger and hardship are getting worse every day.
When asked when Nigerians would begin to feel the positive effects of these government policies, the Minister said the suffering will soon reduce. According to him, people are already beginning to feel a little relief.
He gave an example using the price of rice, saying that food prices now are better compared to last year. He made it clear that things haven’t fully improved, but he believes progress is happening.
He also said that change takes time and reminded people that President Tinubu never promised instant results. But even global rating agencies are starting to notice that Nigeria’s economy is showing signs of improvement.
He ended by saying that although the challenges are not over, the country is slowly moving toward the better future that President Tinubu promised.
