Popular Nigerian singer Simi has shared a powerful message about not living to please others.
She recently posted on X (formerly Twitter), warning people against depending too much on public approval. According to her, people’s love and acceptance can easily change and shouldn’t be the foundation for how you live your life.
Her words:
“Don’t live for the love of people. It’s fickle as f*ck. Live for truth. Be kind. Be honest. Live for God. And when people do show you love en masse, don’t bask in it too long. You MAY acknowledge it — but keep it moving. Because people forget. And if you forget that, you will suffer.”
Her words have gotten people talking online. While some supported her advice, saying it’s true that public opinion can’t be trusted, others shared their own stories of how they’ve been praised one day and criticized the next.
Simi’s message is a reminder that self-worth should come from within, not from what others think or say.
