Houses destroyed by windstorm in Kano

A strong windstorm has hit Bunkure Local Government Area in Kano State, causing serious damage to houses and forcing many people out of their homes.

The storm mainly affected Sakafalle-Jalabi and Zangon Buhari villages in Kulluwa ward. Both mud and cement houses were damaged, and many zinc roofs were blown away. Luckily, nobody died, but the storm destroyed personal belongings and left many people without shelter.

Labaran Garba, who speaks for the local government, confirmed the event. He said that although no one lost their life, the level of damage to buildings and property was large.

Nasiru Umar, the acting district head of Bunkure, informed the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Isa Umar, about the storm. The Emir asked for a full report to be given to the local government so help can be provided. He also advised people to be more prepared to handle natural disasters in the future.

Just a few weeks ago, another windstorm hit Madobi Local Government Area in Kano State. That storm also displaced people and damaged public services like electricity, leaving the area without power.
