IGP extends deadline for enforcement of Tinted glass permit

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a new deadline for the enforcement of tinted glass permits. Nigerians now have until August 12, 2025, to get their permits before enforcement begins.

According to a statement from Police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extension shows that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to being transparent and focused on serving the public. He said the decision to shift the deadline was made to support a fair and inclusive system.

Adejobi noted that many Nigerians asked for more time to get their tinted glass permits, and the police listened. He said the feedback from citizens helped the police improve the process to make it easier, safer, and more accessible for everyone.

The extension of enforcement is also intended to give room for additional enhancements and refinements to the application process, ensuring that no member of the public is unduly disadvantaged.

The NPF is actively working to simplify and improve both the physical and contactless application options including enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures to reduce delays and eliminate undue inconveniences.”

He also reminded the public that the only approved platform for applying for or renewing tinted glass permits is www.possap.gov.ng. Anyone needing a permit should use this official website.

“Citizens are also encouraged to report all unauthorised or hidden charges as well as extortion in the course of application or biometric capturing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

Adejobi assured the public that the police remain dedicated to improving safety and upgrading digital services. He thanked Nigerians for their patience and support as the police work to improve how services are delivered.
