Police in Katsina state have arrested a 14-year-old girl for pretending she was kidnapped. She also planned the kidnapping of her 4-year-old sister. Their goal was to get N50 million from their father by asking for ransom.
The case began on February 20, 2025, when the police received a report from a man named Alhaji Badamasi Bala. He lives in Madaci Yan Nono Quarters, Katsina. He told the police that his two daughters, aged 14 and 4, were taken by kidnappers. The kidnappers demanded N50 million to let the girls go.
After the older girl confessed to faking the kidnapping, the police arrested three other people who helped her. These suspects are 25, 19, and 16 years old. The younger sister was found safe and unharmed.
During the investigation, police found a live 7.62mm bullet with the suspects. The police say the investigation is still going on to learn more about the case.
This case shows how dangerous and complicated kidnapping can be, even when it is planned by family members. The police are working hard to make sure the people involved are brought to justice.
