Advisers for President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have identified at least three Democrats who could be Harris’s running mate if Biden decides not to seek re-election in 2024.
As Biden, who is 81, faces calls to withdraw from the re-election race, sources close to the campaign revealed that a list of possible running mates for Harris is being prepared in case Biden steps down.
The top contenders on this list are Governors Roy Cooper of North Carolina, Andy Beshear of Kentucky, and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, with Cooper being the leading candidate.
