Nyesom Wike, who is currently serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has promised to take charge of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for re-election in 2027. This statement has sparked discussions, especially since Wike is still known to be a member of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His strong support for Tinubu, who belongs to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised questions about his political loyalty.

Wike made it clear that he is ready to lead Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State, showing full commitment to the president’s second term bid. This move may surprise critics who doubt his intentions or think he is playing both sides in Nigerian politics.

The FCT Minister also predicted that President Tinubu would perform much better in the next election, especially in the Federal Capital Territory. In the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu received less than 10% of votes in the FCT. But Wike believes that with better efforts and stronger support, the results in 2027 will be very different.
