Fulfill disability commission promise – PWDs tell Enugu Gov, Mbah

The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) has asked the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to keep his word and set up the Disability Commission he promised.

Onyebuchi Mba, who leads the Enugu State chapter of JONAPWD, made this request in a statement he shared on Friday in Enugu.

He pointed out that during the last State Town Hall meeting, Governor Mbah said the Disability Commission would be ready and working by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

Mba said the governor should honor that promise so that people living with disabilities can feel recognized and included in the state’s development plans.

He noted that while Governor Mbah has shown strong leadership and talks about inclusion, many people with disabilities in the state are still struggling with daily challenges and are often left out.

He urged the state government to take the needs of people with disabilities seriously and make them a top priority.

He also called for the full inclusion of disability-related issues in government plans and for equal access to services and opportunities.

Finally, he said that when people with disabilities are fully supported, they can bring positive changes and help protect their rights within society.
