Adeola Omotoso, daughter of popular Nollywood actress Jumoke George, has revealed that she was sold into prostitution in Mali after being missing for four years.
She shared her story just days after being rescued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM). Her mother had earlier reported her missing and had been searching for her all this time.
Speaking in an interview on the “Talk to B” podcast hosted by actress Biola Bayo, Adeola said she was tricked and trafficked to Mali for prostitution.
She explained that a woman approached her with a job offer in Mali, claiming she could work in a pharmacy. Thinking it was a chance for a better life, she accepted the offer without telling her family.
Her journey to Mali took four days by road. She passed through countries like Cotonou, Togo, Ghana, and others before arriving in Bamako, Mali.
When she reached her destination, she called the contact person she had been given. That was when she learned the shocking truth — the woman told her that she had been bought for N250,000 and had to repay 1.5 million CFA through sex work.
Despite the situation, Adeola found the courage to escape. She eventually got a job with a food vendor, which helped her get away from the brothel.
Her story highlights the dangers of human trafficking and how easily people can be tricked with false promises. Thankfully, she is now safe and back home.
