A big event is happening in Ilesa, Osun State, as people gather in large numbers for the coronation of the new Owa Obokun. Many shops are closed as locals celebrate this special occasion with joy and respect.
Important figures from across Nigeria came together to witness the official crowning of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, as the 41st Owa Obokun of Ijesaland. This historic event brought many dignitaries to Ilesa to show their support.
The city is filled with excitement as residents came out in large crowds. Business owners showed respect by closing their shops so everyone could fully take part in the celebrations of this important day.
Among the high-profile guests at the ceremony were Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who represented President Bola Tinubu. Also present were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and Senator Francis Fadahunsi from Osun East.
The coronation attracted many royal leaders too. These included the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Laoye Ghandi; the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi; the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe; and the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams.
Other important guests were Engr. Olalekan Badmus, Executive Director of Marine and Operations, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, and several members of the Osun State Government’s cabinet.
This coronation is a proud moment for Ijesaland and Osun State, marking the start of a new chapter under Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup’s leadership as the Owa Obokun.
