Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he wants Thomas Partey to stay at the club. With the summer transfer window coming up, Arteta hopes the midfielder will remain part of his team.
The Ghanian international has been a key player for Arsenal. Arteta spoke highly of him and said that Partey is very important to the team.
He shared these thoughts ahead of Arsenal’s final Premier League match of the season against Southampton.
In a statement shared by Fabrizio Romano, Arteta said, “Yes, I would like Thomas Partey to stay and sign a new deal.” He added that this season has been Partey’s most consistent one, and his performance and availability have been excellent.
Thomas Partey’s current contract is set to end after this season. If no new deal is signed, he will become a free agent on July 1.
Despite his contract ending, Partey has already said he does not plan to leave Arsenal this summer.
He joined the club in 2020 from Atletico Madrid in Spain and has become a regular part of the squad.
However, other big clubs like Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have shown interest in signing him.
Talks between Arsenal and Partey about a new contract have been going on for a few months now. Fans will be hoping he stays, especially after such a solid season.
