The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that he cannot handle the security problems in Abuja alone. He believes that the security situation in the capital city is too big for one person to manage by themselves.
Wike explained that it is important for him to work together with the President, the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police, and the Department of State Services. All these key leaders live and work in Abuja, and their help is needed to keep the city safe.
Speaking in Abuja, the minister said that dealing with security problems in the FCT cannot be done by only one person or group. It requires teamwork and cooperation from many important offices.
Wike also assured people that he is working closely with different security agencies. He wants to make sure crime is reduced because he does not want to fail in protecting the capital.
He pointed out that Abuja is different from other states in Nigeria. Because the city has a special status, it cannot fight insecurity in the same way other states do on their own.
To find the best solutions, Wike suggested organizing a summit that will include people from security, health, and other important sectors. This meeting would help create plans to solve the city’s challenges.
He said, “You cannot talk about independence or handling things alone in a city where the President, Police Chief, and National Security Adviser all live and work.” This shows how important it is to work together.
Wike added that Abuja needs a full and strong security system because it is very important to the whole country.
He also explained that the security problems in Abuja are very complicated and cannot be solved by one person or group acting alone.
Finally, Wike blamed political problems for delays in putting up surveillance cameras across Abuja. He said some people are purposely blocking the installation of these important security tools.
