Galatasaray’s striker, Victor Osimhen, made history on Sunday by scoring a goal in their 3-0 win against Kayserispor at Rams Park.

The Nigerian forward scored in the 26th minute, bringing his total to 25 goals in 29 league games this season. This goal strengthened his lead for the Turkish Super Lig top scorer award.

Data from Opta shows that Osimhen is now the third foreign player in Galatasaray’s history to score 25 goals in one Super Lig season. He joined the ranks of Bafetimbi Gomis from the 2017-18 season and Mauro Icardi from 2023-24.

Osimhen leads the Turkish Super Lig this season with 25 goals.

Currently on loan from Napoli, Osimhen is four goals ahead of the second top scorer, Krzysztof Piątek, who has 21 goals.

At 26 years old, Osimhen has scored 36 goals and given eight assists in 40 games for Galatasaray this season.

Their win against Kayserispor also confirmed Galatasaray as the Turkish Super Lig champions in front of their home supporters.

Galatasaray leads the league by eight points.

With only two matches left in the season, they are ahead of Fenerbahçe, who sit second.

Galatasaray has 89 points, while Fenerbahçe has 81 points.
