A shocking incident has occurred in Asa Umudim, a community in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State, where a man allegedly set his home on fire, leading to the tragic death of one of his daughters.
Reports say the man, believed to be around 40 years old, set the house ablaze because he suspected his wife of cheating on him. His wife and two other children suffered serious burns and are currently fighting for their lives in the hospital.
According to sources, the man poured a flammable substance in and around the house before lighting it on fire. He believed his wife was having affairs and often took calls from men he suspected to be her lovers.
Sadly, one of his daughters could not escape and died in the flames. The wife and two other children were rescued but are in critical condition, with doctors working hard to save them.
A local resident revealed that angry villagers almost attacked the man in anger before police officers arrived and arrested him. His daughter’s body has been taken to the mortuary.
When contacted by the Daily Post, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident and said the matter is under investigation.
