Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has spoken out strongly against the Department of State Services (DSS) for taking Professor Pat Utomi to court. The DSS is accusing Utomi of making a statement about forming a shadow government.
Aisha Yesufu didn’t hold back in her reaction. She said the DSS is “sick” and acting in a way that shows something is wrong with the agency.
The DSS filed a case at the Federal High Court in Abuja. They claim that Utomi wants to take over the government led by President Bola Tinubu.
According to the DSS, Utomi is trying to create a shadow government in Nigeria, which they see as a big threat.
On May 13, the DSS submitted the case through their lawyer, Akinlolu Kehinde. They asked the court to say that Utomi’s statement is against the Nigerian Constitution.
They also said that his comment could cause confusion and unrest in the country.
The DSS warned that allowing any group to form a shadow government could lead to political problems, tension between different communities, and even inspire other illegal groups. They believe this could become a serious threat to the country’s peace and safety.
Responding to all of this, Aisha Yesufu posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “DSS is sick and doesn’t know who to tell it that it is sick.”
