Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has shared why he believes many people criticise him. He said it’s mostly because he comes from a rich family.

In an interview on the Culture Knock Out podcast, Davido explained that being seen as a “rich kid” could have caused problems in his music career. That’s why he kept his family background private when he first started making music.

According to him, he already had a few hit songs before people found out that his father is a very wealthy man. By then, it was too late for any negative opinions to stop his rising success.

Davido also said that at the start, people didn’t know he was from a rich home, so he wasn’t judged too quickly. Once people found out, some began to dislike him, but his music continued to do well.

He shared that music has always been his biggest passion. He was so determined to succeed that he didn’t mind losing everything just to follow his dream.

Even though some people dislike him because of his father’s money, Davido continues to release hit songs. He believes that being successful always attracts criticism.

Davido ended by saying that once you become the best in anything, people will find reasons to criticise. He compared it to politics, saying people might love you during elections, but once you become president, they start to hate you.
