T-Dollar & Tobination Sentenced For Naira Abuse

The Nigerian entertainment scene has been shaken after two rising stars, T-Dollar and TobiNation, were sentenced over the abuse of the Naira. Both were found guilty of mishandling the country’s currency, which is against the law.

According to Eyes Of Lagos, the court delivered the judgment on Thursday, May 8, 2025. The case was handled by the Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Both entertainers admitted they were guilty. Justice Owoeye, who led the court at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, gave them a six-month prison sentence. However, he also allowed them to pay a fine of ₦200,000 each instead of going to jail.

This incident is one of many recent cases where the EFCC has gone after popular figures for breaking the Naira laws. Other well-known celebrities like musician Portable, actress Iyabo Ojo, and comedian AY Makun have also been questioned by the EFCC over similar issues.

With the EFCC becoming stricter on how people treat the Naira, this could be a turning point in the entertainment industry. It sends a message that spraying money at parties or public events may soon come to an end. Many people are now asking: Is the era of careless money displays over for Nigerian celebrities?
