Borno: Bodies of 14 mourners recovered after Boko Haram attack on Chibok village

A deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists has left 14 people dead in Kwaple village, located in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria. The victims were mourners attending a final prayer for someone who passed away the week before.

The attack happened on Monday evening, April 28, around 6 PM. The terrorists stormed the village, shot at people, and set a church and over 10 houses on fire.

This incident occurred just hours after another deadly event along the Gamboru Ngala – Kala Balge road, where many travelers were killed or injured when their vehicles hit a bomb planted by terrorists.

The chairman of Chibok council, Hon. Modu Mustapha, confirmed the attack and said some injured people were taken to Mubi General Hospital in nearby Adamawa State for treatment. He also said the number of people who died may be more than 14, as the community is still searching for others.

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents the area, called the recent attacks “heartbreaking” and said more than 100 people have been killed in the past month in different towns including Chibok, Damboa, Pulka, and others. He said many local vigilantes were also killed recently in a village between Borno and Adamawa States.

The security situation in Southern Borno continues to be dangerous, and residents are calling for urgent help.
