Our defection to APC for your own good – Ifeanyi Okowa tells Delta people

Former Governor of Delta State and former vice presidential candidate of the PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa, has spoken about why he and other top politicians left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at a special event held by the APC to welcome them, Okowa said the decision was made in the interest of the people of Delta State. He explained that even though it was a difficult move, it was necessary for the state to be better connected to the federal government in Abuja.

Okowa said that during his eight years as governor, he worked hard but struggled because his party was not in power at the federal level. This made it hard for the state to get enough support from Abuja.

He added that the current governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, is working hard for the state, but also needs to build a strong connection with the central government to get more resources and support. Okowa said the decision to switch to APC came after a meeting with stakeholders, where they all agreed it was the best thing to do for the future of Delta State.

Recently, Governor Oborevwori, Okowa, and several lawmakers officially joined the APC, leaving behind their long-time membership in the PDP.
