The Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. While the event was meant to honor the team’s big 40–22 win, former President Donald Trump made headlines for making fun of singer Taylor Swift.
Trump gave a speech to congratulate the Eagles. While talking about the game, he mentioned he watched it in person and joked about being there with Taylor Swift. He said, “It was an incredible game… I was there along with Taylor Swift, how did that work out?”
Taylor Swift is a fan of the Chiefs and is dating their star player, Travis Kelce. Trump’s comment was seen as a playful jab at her.
This wasn’t the first time Trump has criticized Swift. Earlier in the year, he posted on Truth Social that Swift had been booed at the Super Bowl, saying, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift.” He even wrote, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” after she supported Kamala Harris for president in September 2024.
Aside from that moment, the rest of the Eagles’ visit went well. Trump also said he liked the “Tush Push” play, a move some people want banned from the NFL.
Some people didn’t attend the event. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts missed it due to a “scheduling conflict.” Ohio Senator J.D. Vance was also absent, possibly because of a past mistake at a White House event.
