Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, a well-known businesswoman and socialite, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to her legal team, she came back to Nigeria from London on her own and was picked up by EFCC officers at around 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Her lawyers explained that she had already informed the court that she would be meeting with the EFCC regarding an ongoing investigation.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier ordered her to report to the EFCC on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The investigation is related to alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

The court has also said she must appear again on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, for further hearings on the case.
