Messi, Luis Suarez dropped as Inter Milan lose 4-3

Inter Miami suffered their first loss of the 2025 MLS season in a 4-3 defeat to FC Dallas on Sunday. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and other key players were rested for the game, as manager Javier Mascherano decided to save them for their upcoming CONCACAF Champions Cup match.

The team started strong, taking a 3-1 lead, but couldn’t hold on and ended up losing. Messi, who watched from the sidelines, wasn’t the only star player left out—Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba were also rested.

After the game, Mascherano took responsibility for the loss, admitting that he made some poor decisions. “We played well for 65 minutes, but I made a mistake in reading the match, and in the end, I couldn’t help the players,” he said.

With the loss, Inter Miami now sits in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 18 points.
