Wike gives conditions for peace with Fubara

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he is ready for peace talks with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State — but only under clear conditions.

Wike spoke on April 25 at the 70th birthday celebration of Honourable Ken Chikere in Port Harcourt. He said peace must be real and include all important political players, not just be for show.

He also criticized senior figures in Rivers State for staying silent about the political problems. Wike said they were not doing enough to help bring peace. He warned that using the media to spread false stories would not solve anything.

Wike also addressed rumors that he had collapsed and gone abroad for medical treatment. He explained that he traveled overseas only to attend his son’s graduation, not for health reasons.

This comes after a serious fallout between Wike and Governor Fubara, even though Wike had supported Fubara during the 2023 election.
