Flamingos qualify for 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have booked their place at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. They secured qualification after a 0-0 draw with Algeria in Blida.

Coach Bankole Olowookere’s team had already built a strong lead by winning the first leg 4-0. Even though they dominated the second match, poor finishing meant they couldn’t score again.

The cold weather in Blida also made it tough for the girls to perform at their best. In the final minute, Algeria almost scored, but the ball hit the post, keeping the game goalless.

In the last World Cup, the Flamingos reached the quarter-finals but were knocked out by the USA.
This year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will start on October 17, 2025, in Morocco.
